Accounting Software

Our office is familiar with a number of accounting products so we are ready to help you. Even if you have a product not on our list we may have exposure to it through other clients, and even with a custom built program we can be off the ground in no time.

Individual & Investors

Software from the Australian Tax Office is a good start, both eTax and eRecord are free, and quite reasonable products. You can use eTax to draft a copy of your tax return before we come to see you. We can then sit down with you and maximise your deduction entitlements and correct any errors, omissions or changes in legislation before we lodge your return through our office. Quicken also has a Home and Personal range of products to keep household budgets, track deductions & manage investments.

Small & Micro Business

ERecord is focused on small business record keeping & while it does have limitations for a growing business it is far better than a shoebox full of receipts. For entry level cashbook requirements we recommend Cashflow manger, Myob Business Basics or Quicken Quickbooks Easy Start. All three products are simple to use, and while they do require some training and setup will get you off the ground, invoicing your clients and managing your accounting records.

As your business grows all three providers have upgrade paths to allow you to track inventory and manage payroll as well as a variety of other features depending on the package selected. When we first sit down with you we discuss your business and can help you choose a package that will grow with you. Your accounting software can do more than just help you comply with Tax & GST laws, it is a budgeting tool, you can forecast sales & growth, manage your customers and plan for expenses & manage cashflow. It is a tool to help you understand your business more.

Online Accounting Applications

As computers, email, websites & eCommerce become increasingly important in managing your business presence, a new generation of accounting software has grown from the internet. The three main providers of Software As A Service accounting platforms in Australia are Myob Business Basics Online, Xero, and Saasu. The benefit of these packages is that while you import bank statements or manually enter transactions, post your invoices and enter expense payments, our accounting office also has direct access to your data. You can ask us how to post an entry or make an adjustment and we can see your live data and either give you the correct information or even make the adjustment for you. No more sending CDs or emails with your data file and restoring backups. A significant downside however is reliance on an internet connection and ongoing subscription fees (which even Myob and Quicken charge for their desktop accounting software). The convenience however of accessing your records directly from a computer or laptop anywhere in the world can have significant cost savings and even act as a powerful marketing and sales tool.

There are a number of options available to you so make sure you get off to a good start. We can help you choose a package, setup your software and provide the training you need to get back to your business and make accounting a breeze.
